Hotel Companies Named Among World’s Most Ethical Companies 2020

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Ethisphere Institute has released its 2020 list of the World’s Most Ethical Companies, which recognized 132 companies for setting the global standards of business integrity and corporate citizenship. Among the honourees, Hilton and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts were the only lodging and hospitality companies to be recognized.

This is the third-consecutive year Hilton made the list. “Ethical decision making is central to our values and the profoundly positive impact we have for not only our guests and owners, but also our team members and communities around the world,” says Kristin Campbell, EVP and general counsel, Hilton. “I am so proud of the steady character, integrity and stewardship with which our teams approach their work.”

With this year’s recognition, Wyndham achieved two-consecutive years on the World’s-Most-Ethical-Company list. “Our ethics and values-driven culture guide how we serve our guests, partners, communities and each other every day,” says Paul Cash, general counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Wyndham’s core values of integrity, accountability, inclusivity, caring and fun are reflected in our compliance, social-responsibility and sustainability programs, helping us make smart and ethical decisions, which contribute to the bottom line.”

The World’s-Most-Ethical-Company assessment is based upon the Ethisphere Institute’s Ethics Quotient (EQ) framework, which offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an objective, consistent and standardized way. The information collected provides a comprehensive sampling of definitive criteria of core competencies, rather than all aspects of corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics. Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35 per cent), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 per cent), culture of ethics (20 per cent), governance (15 per cent) and leadership and reputation (10 per cent).
