Canopy by Hilton to expand into the Southwest

Driftwood Capital plans to open Canopy by Hilton’s first location in the U.S. Southwest early this spring. The 198-room Canopy by Hilton Tempe (Ariz.) Downtown will include approximately 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a rooftop pool and bar and a ground-floor restaurant.

“We look forward to bringing a brand-new hotel, restaurant and rooftop bar to the city of Tempe and the East Valley, filling a niche for an elevated yet approachable lifestyle destination for locals and business professionals alike,” Alan Klein, the hotel’s general manager, said in a statement. “With an innovative design inspired by the neighborhood surroundings, our hotel guests will be able to discover all that downtown Tempe offers with our complimentary transportation, Canopy bikes and a local welcome gift upon check-in. We are all about delightful extras to help our guests relax and revive.”

The hotel will be located 5 miles from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and within walking distance of Arizona State University, Tempe; Desert Financial Arena; and Tempe Beach Park.
