Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened the BEI Zhaolong Hotel in Beijing, the first Joie de Vivre hotel in Asia.
The property is a conversion of the former Zhaolong Hotel, which opened on the exact same date in 1985. The hotel underwent a renovation before reopening under its new name.
The 202-room hotel has a dedicated gallery hall that displays local art as well as “immersive digital projections depicting the essence of old Beijing.”
Public spaces include a restaurant and grab-and-go counter, an outdoor patio, an after-hours lounge and a 2,583-square-foot ballroom and multi-function space that can accommodate up to 120 guests for a banquet.
“We are very proud of the opening of the first Joie de Vivre hotel in Asia-Pacific,” said Stephen Ho, president of Greater China, global operations, Hyatt. “We now have ten operating brands in Greater China and Asia-Pacific as we celebrate our 50th anniversary in the region this year. We are grateful for the trust of the hotel’s owner, the joint venture of BTG and BEI, in selecting Hyatt to manage BEI Zhaolong Hotel as part of the Joie de Vivre brand.”
