Living Water Resorts Receives Distinguished HR Service Award

COLLINGWOOD, Ont. — Living Water Resorts, located on the coast of Georgian Bay in Collingwood, Ont., received this year’s Distinguished HR Service Award from Tourism HR Canada. The annual award is presented to individuals or groups who have contributed towards the advancement of human-resource-management practices that provide economic and social benefits for workers and the Canadian tourism industry.

“On behalf of our servant leadership team and staff, we are humbled to receive Tourism HR Canada’s Distinguished HR Service Award,” says Larry Law, CEO and founder of Living Water Resorts. “Our wish is that staff members see themselves not only cutting stones or simply earning wages, but helping to build a cathedral.”

The resort’s vision and mission statement is “Business as a Mission,” which it uses as a platform for promoting compassion, inspiring others to live meaningful lives and striving for excellence in serving guests and the community.

This vision was put into practice when, in February, it employed some Mexican refugees who were victims of human trafficking. The resort hired them as cleaners and offered temporary accommodations for every worker.

“As a Christian businessman, I felt for them,” says Law. “For many years we’ve been saying our work is business as a mission, work with purpose. When the opportunity prevailed, our established company culture prepared us to help.”
